Cover Story (view full-size image):
Construction robots have become a popular research topic. However, there is still a gap in their ubiquitous application due to various reasons such as cost concerns. Therefore, this research presents a practical framework for the cost–benefit analysis of construction robots based on a case study of a cable-driven parallel robot for facade installation. The results show that this robot is a worthwhile investment in the UK, as well as in most developed countries. This framework can be easily adapted to assess the economic implications of other construction robot systems. The research was funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 732513 – HEPHAESTUS. View this paper
