Welcome to this first issue of the European Burn Journal (EBJ) [1], the official Journal for the European Burn Association (EBA) [2]. This Journal has come to fruition thanks to the efforts and contributions of previous EBA Presidents and executive members, in particular Juan Barrett.
The Advisory Board of the journal are the officers of the association. This board together with the EBA Executive Committee appoints the editors who will report to them. It is an honour to work with an Editorial Board who are world experts in their field. Undoubtedly this group of European and world leaders will add tremendous value to the journal and ensure great future success.
The mission of the journal is to contribute to global burn care by publishing articles including guidelines, establishing, reviewing and updating policies and promoting evidence-based research, both clinical and basic science. All with the aim of directly leading to better care for our patients and opening new avenues for innovations and funding opportunities.
Our work will not be limited to the publication of articles. The Advisory Board shall use the journal’s social media platform to disseminate new and novel research and ideas and hold events and webinars to discuss and debate selected aspects of burn care.
This journal is the voice of the EBA and on behalf of both the Advisory and the Editorial Boards, we promise our EBA membership, our stakeholders, to work relentlessly to get this journal into the top ranks in our field. This aim would be possible with stringent peer review in order to keep the quality of publications at a high standard and this is our mission.
