Prof. Dr. Kenji Uchino Appointed Editor-in-Chief of Actuators

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Kenji Uchino has been appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of Actuators (ISSN 2076-0825). His tenure starts from January 2021.

Prof. Dr. Kenji Uchino received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. His research program focuses on Piezoelectric device developments, including materials, device designing and fabrication process, applications in actuators/sensors, micro-ultrasonic motors, piezo-transformers, energy harvesting; and robotics.

He is the Founding Director of the International Center for Actuators and Transducers, Materials Research Institute, and a Professor of EE and MatSE, Distinguished Honors Faculty of Schreyer Honors College at The Penn State University. He was an Associate Director (Global Technology Awareness) at The US Office of Naval Research – Global Tokyo Office from 2010 till 2014. He was also the Founder, Senior Vice President, and CTO of Micromechatronics Inc., State College, PA from 2004 till 2010. His work has resulted in over 500 peer-reviewed research publications.

Prof. Dr. Kenji Uchino takes over from Prof. Dr. Delbert Tesar, the founding Editor-in-Chief. During the tenure of Prof. Dr. Delbert Tesar, the journal has had great success, seeing a sustained increase in both the number of publications and the journal impact. We are extremely grateful to Prof. Dr. Delbert Tesar for his hard work and support in growing the journal to its current state and warmly welcome Prof. Dr. Kenji Uchino as the new Editor-in-Chief and look forward to his contribution to the continued success of Actuators.
