Upcoming MDPI Conferences (1)

26–28 October 2022 The 2nd International Electronic Conference on Agronomy

Online

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the 2nd International Electronic Conference on Agronomy, which will take place from 26 to 28 October 2022. The e-conference format is designed to facilitate the dissemination and discussion of advances in agronomy research and innovation in a post-pandemic environment, where travelling is likely to remain a challenge for many of us.

The overarching aim is to contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and developing game-changing solutions that can transform the global food system, as demanded by the UN Food Systems Summit in 2021.

In the context of (1) global population growth and climate change; (2) rapidly rising costs and/or the scarcity of inputs such as water, seed, fertilisers, crop protection products; and (3) stagnating or decreasing crop yields in many world regions, the main challenges for the world’s agricultural systems remain the same as those outlined in the Welcome from the Chairs of the 1st International Electronic Conference on Agronomy in 2021. Specifically, agricultural production systems need to simultaneously (i) increase their resource use efficiency to reduce their reliance on limited, non-renewable, and strategic resources (soil, water, nutrients, and energy); (ii) maintain or increase crop yields, quality, and safety; (iii) reduce agriculture’s impact on the environment and biodiversity; and (iv) maintain or improve economic returns for farming communities.

The programme of the 2nd International Electronic Conference on Agronomy will include eight special sessions, which focus on important area of agronomy where research and innovation is essential to address the challenges described above (see list of sessions below). In addition to lectures/presentations, we will organize a moderated panel discussions in each session to allow results to be presented and future challenges and research needs to be discussed:

  1. Breeding/Selection Technologies and Strategies (including participatory breeding). Focused on yield, yield stability, resource use efficiency, weed competitiveness, and disease and pest resistance.

  2. Sustainable Soil Management (including recycling organic animal and human waste as fertiliser/soil improvers).
  1. Sustainable Resilient Horticultural Production Systems.
  1. Sustainable and Resilient Arable Farming Systems.
  1. Sustainable Management of Permanent and Rotational Grassland (including semi-natural and natural environments used for grazing).
  1. Sustainable Weed Management.
  1. Precision and Digital Agriculture.
  1. Organic and Regenerative Farming Systems.
While our virtual conference will be a different experience from traditional in-person meetings, it will ensure that we (1) can meet irrespective of the COVID situation, (2) allow access for those who for other reasons are unable to travel, and (3) enable us to have a carbon-neutral event. Your presentation will be accessible to researchers around the world and will be a more inclusive because of the absence of registration fees and travel costs.

We warmly invite our colleagues from across the world to be part of this exciting event.

8–11 August 2022 ABB2022: The 5th International Conference on Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology

Shenzhen, China

Organized by the Macao Convention and Exhibition Association, the 5th International Conference on Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology (ABB 2022) will be held in Shenzhen, China, from 8 to 11 August 2022.

The 5th International Conference on Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology (ABB 2022) is an annual conference that has been successfully held in Hangzhou, Macau, and online, for the past 4 years. It provides a valuable and important platform to inspire international and interdisciplinary exchange at the forefront of applied biochemistry and biotechnology. The plenary speech, oral and poster presentations, workshops, discussions, and networking events will keep participants engaged in learning and making new connections at ABB 2022.

ABB 2022 will unite academicians, scientists, engineers, and technologists, etc. from all over the world, and we hope that you will take this opportunity to visit the city of Shenzhen and join us for the academic exchange.

Abstract submission

Submissions of original research papers and abstracts for the main program and the doctoral consortium in all areas of ABB in Biochemistry and Biotechnology applications include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Crop breeding and genetics;
  • Animal breeding and genetics;
  • Chemistry, biology, and genetics, microbial technology applied to agronomy;
  • Stress physiology and molecular biology.

28–31 August 2022 ISCRAES 2022: The 2nd International Symposium on Climate-Resilient Agri-Environmental Systems

Dublin, Ireland

After the successful arrangement of the 1st ISCRAES 2020 (Virtual, 4-6 November, 2020), it is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in the Second International Symposium on Climate-Resilient Agri-Environmental Systems (ISCRAES 2022).  This symposium will be held from 28th to 31st August, 2022, at the Royal Marine Hotel (www.royalmarine.ie), Dublin, Ireland. The main theme of this symposium is “Implementing the New Green Deal: The Path Towards Sustainable Agriculture“, which refers mainly to the European Green Deal, as well as having the opportunities and resources to achieve the primary objective of a sustainable Europe and planet by tackling the current major environmental, climate, and societal challenges faced by the world.

Abstract submission

This meeting will cover the impacts of climate change, environmental degradation, GHG mitigation, biodiversity, circular bio-economy, and modelling and sustainability issues under six main themes:

  • arable cropping systems;
