Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

There is an urgent need to protect crop losses due to disease and pests to feed a growing population with limited resources. Successful cultivation of soybean is limited by many biotic stresses, mostly diseases. Every year, soybean farmers lose millions of dollars worldwide due to fungal diseases. Soybean diseases not only reduce yield but also affect grain and seed quality, which will negatively impact food, feed, and fuel production.

Fungicide use in soybean is increasing not only to manage the diseases but also to obtain a higher yield with no or a smaller disease environment due to the marketing claims of plant health and physiological benefits associated with fungicides. Consequently, fungicide resistance is common in many fungal pathogens in soybean. Judicial use of fungicides and integration of other disease management methods are needed to better protect the environment, slow down the development of fungicide-resistant isolates, and develop sustainable management plans for diseases.

This Special Issue is intended to provide insights into the integrated management of soybean fungal diseases. We welcome contributions into chemical and nonchemical management of soybean diseases based on associated risk of fungal diseases, evaluation of host resistance and other cultural management practices, and methods of minimizing calendar-based soybean fungicide uses with disease forecasting and advisory models.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Agronomy is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
