Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Next evolution of IoT, IoE extends to not only things and data acquisition, but how to apply data analytics so that it can impact processes and decision making. Internet of Everything currently incorporates the leading recent advances in deep learning algorithms, data mining as well as intelligent control and process management. This ability to transform data into valuable knowledge has significant added value for the industry and people in general.

IoE big data processing and computation requires significant cloud computing and storage resources. Therefore, the deployment of Edge servers and devices that have computing capabilities, demand new protocols and functional frameworks to handle computations. Focusing on conservation of computational resources and efficiency, next generations of IoT services will provide new methodologies and cloud protocols of low cloud computational footprint to the development of new smart protocols, real-time service functionalities with predictive measures, and recommendations.

Additionally, IoT low energy protocol footprints have revolutionized the industry and the way that humans interact and exchange information with things, and controllers. These advancements in low energy communication technologies and IoT applications in everyday life can be incorporated into agnostic application services that offer medium communication transparency via representational state transfers and middleware protocols via the Web of Things.

Having also strong security authentication and anonymity in mind where applicable, this special issue will promote the state-of-the-art research covering all aspects of IoE from sensory data exchange and storage, down to the decision and process level, implementation, and testing of intelligent, low power IoT systems and applications, that include smart algorithms or management processes or exploit augmented and interactive control interfaces. High-quality contributions addressing related theoretical and practical aspects are expected. The topics of interest for this special issue include, but are not limited to:

  • Modeling, analysis, simulation, and verification of intelligent management algorithms and low-power IoT applications.
  • Cyber-physical systems, Internet-of-Things, embedded security, embedded smart algorithms, and autonomous decision support systems.
  • Design and evaluation of IoT solutions implementing deep learning algorithms.
  • Hardware and software co-design of intelligent IoT management systems-solutions for the industry, agriculture, society, and smart cities.
  • IoT prototype infrastructures protocols and algorithms.
  • Detection, evaluation, and prevention of threats and attacks in public IoT systems.
  • Data security, privacy, and trustworthiness of communication mechanisms-protocols in IoT systems
  • Machine learning or deep learning-based solutions.
  • Frameworks and models of smart systems and smart production systems focusing on computational resources conservation.
  • Cloud, fog, and edge computing and new communication protocols for intelligent management and control operations.
  • Interactive low energy control protocols and middleware IoT protocols and services supporting decision and management processes.
  • Distributed sensory architectures and detection algorithms monitoring and supporting IoT services.
  • Communication protocols, tele-operations, Tele-robotics

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Algorithms is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
