Dear Colleagues,
Integrated photonics is a key enabling technology for emerging applications such as quantum technology, precision metrology, atomic clocks, sensing/spectroscopy, and microwave signal processing. Such advanced applications require complex integrated photonics circuits exhibiting low propagation losses over a wide operating wavelength range and combining multiple functional materials.
In this Special Issue, we would like to invite papers highlighting the most recent advances in this emerging field, with a focus on devices and photonic integration technologies that enable novel functionalities in light generation and amplification, modulation, frequency conversion, spectral filtering, and detection, with operating wavelengths extending from the UV to the mid-infrared. Such devices and integrated photonic platforms will enable innovations in optical sensing, precision metrology, optical clocks, microwave photonics, quantum technology, artificial intelligence/deep learning and optical communications, just to mention a few.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
