Dear Colleagues,
Kidney transplantation is the best replacement therapy for patients with end-stage renal disease. Although many improvements have been achieved in surgical techniques and in the management of immunosuppression, the long-term outcome of kidney transplantation has not significantly improved in the last few decades. This Special Issue will describe recent research and developments in the field of kidney transplantation. The objective of this Special Issue is to present research on the factors that could improve the long-term outcome of kidney transplant. This issue will focus on recent advances in the management of kidney transplant recipients, including but not limited to the management of acute humoral rejection, advances in immunosuppressive therapy, new technologies in kidney transplantation surgery, the expansion of the donor pool, and the complications of immunosuppression.
This would, in principle, translate to a definition of new protocols for kidney transplantation management, aiming to defining those guidelines that would improve long-term outcomes.
