Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of Biomedicines, a peer-reviewed open access journal in the biomedical field. So far, Biomedicines has published more than 2700 papers from more than 17,000 authors. We appreciate each author, reviewer, and academic editor whose support has brought us to where we are today.

To celebrate this significant milestone, we aim to publish a Special Issue entitled 10th Anniversary of Biomedicines—Strategies for oral biology research and oral tissue regeneration. The field of oral biology merges fundamental scientific disciplines, such as microbiology, immunology, genetics, molecular biology, pharmacology, and physiology, in unique and promising ways to meet the challenges of developing new and highly effective strategies to manage, cure, or prevent diseases that are associated with the oral cavity and the craniofacial structures. Research has successfully been conducted on different models and has deepened our understanding of the development and the physiological/pathological processes of the functional components of the masticatory system and the surrounding craniofacial tissues. The last decade has witnessed major developments toward the generation of innovative research models that closely mimic the in vivo environment as well as multifunctional cell/gene-based and biomaterials therapeutics.

This Anniversary Special Issue focuses on the emerging field of diagnostic, pathogenetic, and regenerative therapeutical platforms to advance clinical translation. High-end strategies currently show that wound repair and guided tissue regeneration after trauma or inflammatory tissue breakdown involve complex interplay between the bone/connective tissue matrix and the host/immune cells that are under the influence of mediators in a variable bacterial load environment. The issue aims to provide the latest evidence on methods to improve cell responsiveness and oral macro- and microtissue engineering outcomes, targeted immune modulation, stem cell therapeutics, and multifunctional biomaterials with disinfection and regenerative properties.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Biomedicines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
