Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Metal Nanoparticles (MNPs) have been of much significance since the last two decades. These nano-sized metal particles have gained importance in comparison to their bulk, due to their exceptional properties. They are being actively studied in different areas such as catalysis, electronics, optics, etc. Some of the unique features of MNPs include size tunability, selectivity, and surface properties. In general, these MNPs usually form as nanoclusters during synthesis and are found to exhibit size-dependent behavior. However, decreasing the size down to sub-nanometer or single-atom-thick was found to display outstanding catalytic activity. Due to the significance and urgency, there exists a need for a Special Issue dedicated to some of the captivating studies associated with metal-based nanoparticle synthesis, properties, and their studies.

The scope of this Special Issue is to bring in new findings in metal nanoparticles specifically focused on catalysis applications. The authors are welcome to submit original research articles, short communications, reviews, and perspectives focused on the synthesis of MNPs, advanced characterizations, properties, including computation/DFT studies. More importantly, findings related to single-atom catalysts, their properties, and applications associated with different range of catalytic studies are of much interest.

Submissions are welcome, especially those that include but are not limited to the following areas:

1) Synthesis of MNPs including colloidal and supported metal nanoparticles

2) Green synthetic approaches to derive MNPs including plant extracts

3) Impregnation of MNPs as support to promote catalysis reaction

4) Studies related to the effect of structure, and engineering nanoparticles for the specific catalytic process.

4) DFT studies focusing on fundamental studies, such as specific structure, size, reactivity limitations, and applications of MNPs and catalysis processes.

5) Applications studies related to MNPs based catalytic studies.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Catalysts is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
