Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The term lymphoproliferative disorders encompasses several disease patterns globally characterized by the proliferation of a more or less differentiated lymphoid clone. The application of immunological investigations, cytogenetics and molecular biology has helped researchers to better define such diseases generally recognized to be clinically and morphologically heterogeneous. In the oral cavity and generally in the head and neck, lymphoproliferative disorders most commonly occur as extra-nodal lymphoid lesions, but also often as localizations of spread disease. A careful clinical and radiographical examination of the head and neck, oral cavity and oropharynx is mandatory to identify suspicious lesions at an early stage. Additionally, an early pathological diagnosis allows the therapy to be set at the initial stages of disease, thus generally resulting in a better prognosis. Furthermore, the evaluation of patients after treatment for lymphoma is essential to prevent relapse and to recognize any eventual secondary localizations at an early stage. In this regard, oral pathologists and dental practitioners play a key role in both the treatment and long-term monitoring of such patients, having the possibility to easily examine and perform a diagnosis at the level of hard and soft tissue.

The aims of this Special Issue are first to collect clinical–epidemiological data on oral and head/neck lympho-proliferative diseases to highlight disease signs and symptoms at the early stage, to suggest a mini-invasive approach to diagnosis with the support of targeted histological and immunohistochemical investigations and to provide data about therapy efficiencies, clinical outcome and recurrence rate.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
