Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are old infectious diseases that have caused public health crises for centuries. These infections not only result in genital lesions but also cause substantial consequences, including impaired fertility, carcinogenesis, and impact on the health of babies in cases of pregnant women. We are currently facing the increasing threat of antimicrobial resistance, which necessitates new diagnostic methods and a different treatment strategy. As such, new diagnostic methods and kits have emerged. It is thus important to elucidate the role of new diagnostics in the treatment and control of STI spread. The targeted diseases of this Special Issue include but are not limited to syphilis, gonorrhea, and condyloma acuminata.

The goal of this Special Issue is to gain insights into how the utilization of new diagnostics in STIs affects medical management and health outcomes at the personal and public health level. We welcome submissions on different aspects of STIs, with particular focus on the introduction of new diagnostic methods into clinical practice. We also welcome submissions focusing on the changing epidemiology of STIs with modern diagnostics and management.
