Exercise Endocrinology

A section of Endocrines (ISSN 2673-396X).

Section Information

Regular physical activity and exercise are behavioral components that major world health organizations have necessitated as essential for individuals to have healthy lifestyles. Physical activity and exercise profoundly affect the endocrine system and stimulate the release of many hormones. These hormonal responses affect a variety of systems in the body. Physical activity and exercise, when performed appropriately, lead to positive adaptive responses (i.e., health benefits) but can induce physiologic dysregulation—dysfunction when done erroneously. This Section welcomes manuscript submissions on all aspects of exercise endocrinology, including original and review articles and commentary articles.

Topics within the scope of this section include but are not limited to:

  • Hormones
  • Endocrines
  • Physical activity—exercise
  • Stress
  • Energy expenditure
