Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Green energy and energy materials are key research areas for sustainable development. Significant interest has been shown recently in advancing knowledge in these areas which have long-term impact on economy. The present Special Issue thus addresses recent advances in modeling, experimental characterization and instrumentation for green energy applications.

Modeling enables us to investigate properties and behavior of materials beyond the limits of experiments. The present Special Issue covers modeling methods that include: First-principle calculations, Density-functional theory, Atomic and molecular-scale simulations, Empirical / Semi-empirical methods, Analytical modeling, and Multi-scale modeling. Also, this Special Issue covers topics of experimental characterization of advanced materials as well as instrumentation systems including: (1) Characterization and evaluation of mechanical, electrical, magnetic, optical, chemical and/or thermal properties; (2) X-ray-based techniques; (3) Chromatography and mass spectrometry; (4) Analog/digital instrumentation and electronics. Experimental characterization of materials enables us to realistically validate the extent of the applicability of the model and how reliably accurate it is. The Special Issue is dedicated to modeling and experimental research work in physics of advanced materials, green energy and applied physics.

The relevant topics include: Modeling of energy storage devices and materials, Ab-initio modeling of energy materials, Electronic properties of energy materials, Structural properties of energy materials, Quantum energy, Electromagnetic energy, Quantum electrodynamics, Electrical superconductivity of energy materials, and Thermal conductivity of energy materials. The relevant applications include: Electrical engineering, Power & energy, Electronics & control, Communications & Digital signal processing, Sustainable energy, Energy materials, Nanotechnology, Modelling, and Instruments to support science/technology. Such applications help in realizing highly efficient and green energy systems that are developed toward the realization of a sustainable society. This Special Issue will draw upon recent advances in green energy and energy materials. It will bring together the state-of-the-art and the state-of-the-research in modeling, experimental characterization and instrumentation in these areas. Works pertinent to computational methods, experimental characterization, analytical modeling and optimization in green energy and energy materials are of particular interest for this Special Issue.

In addition to the papers that would be submitted to “Energies” for this Special Issue, selected papers would be considered for inclusion in this Special Issue from an international conference in this scientific field. Excellent papers on modeling or experimental characterization of advanced materials and systems for renewable energy applications are welcome.
