Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The energy economy based on fossil resources is no longer tenable, mainly for environmental reasons but also due to the lack of reserves in the medium to long term.

Looking into renewable energy technologies, concentrated solar radiation is one of the available options which offer a greatest potential, particularly regarding high-temperature industrial applications.

Though electricity generation is the most known application of this technology, solar thermochemical processes pose promising prospects in the midterm because they avoid or substantially reduce costs for CO2 mitigation and pollution abatement.

The products are solar fuels and material commodities for delivering clean and sustainable energy services.

We are pleased to invite you to submit high-quality unpublished contributions on recent advances in applications of concentrated solar radiation to high-temperature industrial processes with a strong potential to contribute to the decarbonization of the world’s economy.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but not be limited to) the following:

  • Solar thermal production of commodities; i.e., cement, lime, steel, pure metals, bulk chemicals, etc.;
  • Thermochemical production of hydrogen and other solar fuels;
  • Solar processing of materials at high temperature.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
