Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Quantum information represents a fundamental resource of investigation in understanding quantum effects appearing in various fields of theoretical physics. In particular, it may be possible that through the structure of quantum information, unsolved problems of theoretical physics can be projected on a new horizon where those problems may be understandable.

In the development of quantum information theory, quantum information has exhibited characters of quantum theory, which may have no analogs in classical physics. In addition, there is an expectation that quantum information may help to establish a fundamental framework of various areas of theoretical physics.

Through the relationship between quantum information and various topics in theoretical physics, considerable progress in those topics has been made. For instance, applying quantum information to black hole physics has provided some fruitful results in the field.

This Special Issue aims to stimulate progress in the field and provide an open-access platform for presenting recent results and suggestions of exciting problems. Moreover, we hope that new methods for unsolved problems in quantum information and theoretical physics will be proposed. Contributions on other related topics, as well as review articles, are also welcome.

Topics of the Special Issue:

  • The relationship between quantum information and theoretical physics;
  • The role of quantum information in understanding theoretical physics (quantum information, simulations, many-body physics, entanglement, quantum correlations, uncertainty relationships, hidden variables, violation of Bell inequalities, quantum gravity, superpositions, decoherence, quantum cosmology, black holes);
  • The relationship between quantum information and theoretical physics (locality, causality, quantum contextuality, quantum fields theory, quantum entropies, quantum noise, entanglement entropy, information scrambling, quantum speed limit, black holes);
  • Quantum structures and their applications in information (quantum communication, quantum security,  quantum measurements, quantum computation, quantum machine learning, noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) machine learning, quantum decoherence);

The theoretical aspect of quantum information (quantum-enhanced communication, entanglement distribution, quantum teleportation, quantum cloning, quantum networking, quantum key distribution, quantum repeaters, quantum memories, quantum channel capacities, quantum channel estimation, quantum state discrimination, quantum error correction, quantum digital signature, quantum fingerprinting, quantum state manipulation, quantum memory, quantum certification, quantum nonlocality, quantum steering, quantum randomness).

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Entropy is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
