Position Description: The Department of Pharmacology at Stony Brook University, New York is seeking a full-time, motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Scholar to join an exciting research opportunity in the laboratory of Dr. Chioma Okeoma.

The incumbent will join NIH funded research to investigate the i) role of extracellular vesicles and extracellular condensates in HIV/SIV induced inflammation and barrier dysfunction, and ii) how illicit drugs alter the composition and functions of extracellular vesicles and extracellular condensates. New and experienced postdoctoral fellows seeking an opportunity to carve a niche in cutting age research are encouraged to apply.

Annual Salary Range: Salary is based on the NIH-recommended postdoctoral stipend scale

Proposed Start Date: Immediate Percent Time: 100%

Education Requirement: Ph.D. in Microbiology/Virology or in a related field with emphasis on HIV and/or extracellular vesicle biology.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong background in extracellular vesicles and immunology, molecular & cell biology, and/or bioinformatics
  • Ability to independently design, execute, and interpret experiments
  • Ability to work in collaboration with other members of the laboratory
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Experience in chromatographic and electrophoretic separation methods
  • Experience developing methods/assays and related instrumentation, is a plus
