Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development announced 17 Sustainable Development Goals and different targets with the aim to stimulate action in different areas of critical importance for humanity and the planet. Among them are actions to substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reusing in food production. Additionally, it’s important to take urgent action not only to combat climate change but also to address its impact on food quality. Therefore, new trends are required for the reutilization of by-products generated by agri-food industries and for the transformation of food wastes into economically viable products for its future reutilization. Furthermore, new trends are required for the application of the circular economy and green technologies, as well, among others, which will reduce the impact of food production on the environment. Moreover, adaptive strategies looking to preserve and improve food quality under the new climatic conditions need to be considered to improve the practices of agri-food industries and to induce adaptation to climatic change. Thus, this Special Issue will include the results of research concerning current techniques and approaches that the agri-food industries can introduce for its adaptation to climatic change.
