Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most lethal and difficult-to-treat cancers. It is the most prevalent form of pancreatic cancer that accounts for more than 90% of pancreatic cancer cases. Molecular analyses of patient samples have revealed that most of these cancers carried mutations in the K-RAS and p16 genes. Even though PDAC research has advanced tremendously in recent decades, it remains the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, with a 5-year survival rate less than 8%. In addition to PDAC, other pancreatic cancers, such as intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasia, are of growing concern for researchers and doctors in this field. To improve our understanding and the diagnosis and therapy of pancreatic cancer, translational oncology must expand its efforts. This issue will focus on recent key findings in the field of pancreatic cancer research and therapy. It will contain articles regarding the different types of pancreatic cancer, the latest research, and new strategies to improve the therapy of this disease.
