Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Older adults (aged 65 and over) are a vibrant and growing part of our countries’ economies. They also experience unique challenges to their economic well-being, health and independence. To better inform decisions regarding the health, quality of life and well-being of older Americans, studies reflecting these experiences and voices are needed. In the United States, federal agencies provide statistics on aspects of older Americans’ lives. However, when it comes to all countries in North, Central and South America, it can be difficult to fit the pieces together into a comprehensive representation across the Americas. Thus, it is important for researchers and the general public to have an organic, accessible and easy-to-understand portrait of how older adults in the Americas fare. The goal of this Special Issue is to provide readers with an accessible compendium of studies drawn from the most reliable and recent official international statistics. The manuscripts will be categorized into six broad groups: Population, Economics, Health Status, Health Risks, Prevention Strategies, Policies.
