Propagation and Seeds

A section of Horticulturae (ISSN 2311-7524).

Section Information

The Propagation and Seeds Section of Horticulturae publishes original manuscripts of diverse types related to horticultural crops including vegetables, fruit trees, ornamental shrubs and trees, flowers, and aromatic and medicinal plants. In horticulture, plant propagation plays an important role as the number of plants can be rapidly multiplied while retaining the desirable characteristics of the mother plants and shortening the bearing age of plants. The two primary forms of plant propagation are sexual and asexual. In nature, plant propagation most often involves sexual reproduction, and this form is still used in several species. Over the years, horticulturists have developed asexual propagation methods that use vegetative plant parts. Innovation in plant propagation has supported breeding programs and allowed the production of high quality nursery plants with the same genetic characteristics of the mother plant, free of diseases or pests. We welcome high quality submissions related to the above-mentioned topics, which may include basic and applied studies.

In particular, Propagation and Seeds welcomes contributions by early career researchers and propositions for research topics. In addition, we invite senior scientists to initiate and serve as Guest Editors of new Special Issues on a single and particular theme.
