Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue of IJERPH focuses on the impact of dental disease on patients with hematology and oncologic disease. Specific areas that will be discussed include: hemophilia, sickle cell disease, oncology (including chemotherapy and radiation therapy), osteonecrosis related to radiation, and bone marrow transplant. Preventive oral hygiene regimens and materials will be discussed.

Radiation and chemotherapy have documented effects on the growth and development of teeth, including apical closer, intrinsic staining, and issues with eruption. This issue will examine the literature behind these changes, and strategies to both counsel and treat children.

This issue will focus on how to provide anticipatory guidance and treatment plan patients who have a history of hematologic or oncologic conditions.
