Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are organizing a Special Issue focused around Point-of-Care (PoC) technologies for health care applications. PoC sensors play a vital role in advancing health care and can deliver health equity across the globe. Many infectious diseases remain the leading cause of mortality around the world. Diagnosing disease at its onset will have a critical impact in timely administering the therapeutic interventions that could result in saving patients’ life. The availability of PoC biosensors can have a significant impact for early patient stratification. PoC technologies for personalized diagnostics could drastically reduce the time to appropriate treatment, considerably increase survival rates, and save billions of taxpayer dollars spent in healthcare systems around the world. Theranostics enabled by advancements in microfluidics and micro–nano sensing technologies and their integration with clinical data to develop predictive computational systems for individualized patient stratification can be an important part of the solution. This is one of the key focus areas of this Special Issue, which will feature new innovative PoC technologies and biosensors to address emerging challenges in global healthcare. We are seeking original research articles and perspectives highlighting PoC sensors and their utility in multifaceted clinical settings. Articles with a focus on sensor validation in clinical studies are particularly welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2500 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
