Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Pancreatic cancer is currently the fourth leading cause of cancer-associated deaths in Western societies with increasing prevalence. Pancreatic cancer is characterized by a high degree of resistance to available treatment options, resulting in dismal prognosis. The most frequent malignancy of the pancreas, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), is associated with one of the worst prognoses of any common solid tumors and a 5-year survival rate below 10%. Despite intense research efforts, overall prognosis of pancreatic cancer virtually has not improved over the last few decades. Thus, alternative treatment strategies and approaches for finding new potential therapeutic targets are needed to fight this fatal disease.

The aim of this Special Issue is to provide novel target candidates as well as target discovery strategies that may pave the way for new treatment options for pancreatic cancer. Authors are invited to submit original research as well as review articles.
