Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Around the world, most workers are working in non-formal employment. These workers do not have an employer who is responsible for their occupational safety and health education and training. Therefore, there is a strong need to provide such training also for informal workers in different settings, e.g., the International Labour Organization (ILO) created training manuals for agriculture (WIND program) and small enterprises (WISE program). However, especially the medium and long-term effects of such programs on the community have so far rarely been published. They are important to assess best allocation of funds.
The Special Issue on The Effects of Occupational Safety and Health Education and Training on Different Communities aims on evaluating the effects of education and training on community health and safety around the globe. We invite programs following a train-the-trainer approaches as well as training programs for the workers themselves. Participatory, community-based approaches are also encouraged. Given the current pandemic, effects of online formats would also be interesting to report. We will preferably accept studies done on a medium (months) or long-term (years) timeframe. Qualitative, quantitative as well as mixed-methods approaches are welcome. The research should report not only changes in knowledge, but also impact on community safety and health.
