Advances in Environmental Toxicology, Pathology and Monitoring

Dear Colleagues,

Scientific and public concern about environmental health and its interplay with public health has dramatically increased worldwide in recent decades. We are continuously facing exposure to a plethora of both traditional and emerging contaminants (e.g., metals, pesticides, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, plastics, nanomaterials). This situation has led to a multidisciplinary research effort to monitor the environmental state and to evaluate the consequence of pollutants along trophic webs. Moreover, a “one health” approach has been proposed, integrating environment, animal, and human health.

This Special Issue of the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH) focuses on the current state of the art and perspectives in environmental toxicology, pathology, and monitoring at all integration levels, from molecules to ecosystems. Articles based on field investigations and/or on laboratory experiments, especially those considering environmentally relevant concentrations or having applications in field research and risk assessment, are invited to this Special Issue. We will consider manuscripts dealing with all classes of pollutants, their effects, mechanism of toxicity, interaction with other stressors, biomarkers, and methods to detect their occurrence and impact in abiotic and biotic matrices. The application of new and/or multidisciplinary approaches is encouraged. Original research manuscripts, reviews, and case reports are welcome to this issue.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
