Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

The current context of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change action has revealed the need to establish the present period as a turning point towards a sustainable recovery that modifies current production and consumption patterns. To effectively address these changes, it is necessary to understand, in depth, the risks and impacts associated with current patterns. In particular, the need to measure social impacts across the supply chain of products has aroused great interest among decision-makers. Today's interconnected and global supply chains normally hide impacts that undermine the defense of the social rights of workers and local communities. However, these supply chains can, in turn, represent an opportunity for the economies and societies of the countries of origin where the production processes are located. Social life cycle assessment (S-LCA) has become an adequate methodology for evaluating such risks and opportunities, but with pending challenges for enhancing its potential for decision-making. Thus, the purpose of this Special Issue is to “empower” S-LCA for informed decision-making by means of original research, case studies, reviews or discussion contributions focused on enhancing practicality and communication in product-oriented S-LCA. The research studies submitted can address methodological developments and explore the combination of S-LCA with other tools and areas such as supply chain management, scenario analysis, uncertainty analysis, multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA) and sustainability reporting.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2300 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
