Special Issue "Transcription Factors Involved in Neurological Disorders and Tumors"
Deadline for manuscript submissions: 31 October 2021.
Interests: neuroblastoma; brain tumor; transcriptional regulation; gene evolution; de novo gene; long non-coding RNA; p53 family members; MYC family members
Throughout human life, transcription factors regulate the proliferation, survival, death, and activity of cells in the nervous system. Dysfunction of the regulation occurring early in life causes congenital malformations, whereas that occurring later in life results in neurodegenerative diseases. Genomic aberration reactivates the developmental transcription factors that cause tumors in the central and peripheral nervous systems. However, the molecular basis of the pleiotropic functions of the transcription factors between these diseases has not been elucidated. In this Special Issue, we aim to promote our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlining these diseases and provide novel clues for new therapeutic strategies.
We welcome Original Research and Review Articles focusing on, but not limited to:
- Novel functions of transcription factors involved in neurological disorders and tumors;
- New drug candidates that modulate the functions of transcription factors in neurological disorders and tumors;
- Key transcription factors that regulate both neurological disorders and tumors;
- New experimental models for the study of the function of transcription factors in the nervous system;
- Role of transcription factors in embryonic development and its association with neurological disorders and tumors;
- Role of transcription factors in the aging of the nervous system and its association with neurological disorders and tumors.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
