Special Issue "New Challenges for Mass Spectrometry: Ultra High Sensitivity, Innovative Sample Preparation, Advanced Automation and Data Fusion"
Deadline for manuscript submissions: closed (31 January 2021).
Interests: Bioanalysis; Proteomics; Metabolomics; Bioinformatics
Over the last years, mass-spec-based analytical sciences have enabled outstanding results in the fields of biology, pharmacology, and, more in general, in the whole area of life sciences. Many protocols and applications have been developed, validated, and are now highly standardized, enabling high quality data and throughput. Still, in many fields, new strategies and innovative protocols are invented and tested every day to tackle new challenges, such as reaching extreme sensitivity (down to single cell level), or to achieve extensive automation and robustness (to work in clinical chemistry labs) or to deepen the level of bioinformatic investigation of large datasets. A lot has been done and much more still needs to be done to adapt omics technologies to the biological challenges of the upcoming decade of the 21st century. This Special Issue will collect contributions from scientists working on new cutting-edge technologies that address all the steps of the omics science workflows, from sample preparation to advanced data analytics and data fusion. Contributions reporting new advancements in all these fields are encouraged and welcome and will help the reader in building a comprehensive overview of the new and most exciting trends in this field.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
