Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It has been five years since the first book was published that identified soil mapping and process modeling in soils as a key factor in promoting sustainable soil management.

The topic of sustainable soil management has not lost its importance since then; in fact, it will become even more important in the future. The significance of soil management is high not only in the field of agriculture due to food security, but also in other land use sectors such as forestry. It is becoming increasingly clear that soil “well-being” is not only a cornerstone of agriculture, but also a wealth of ecosystem services without which adaptation to climate change is difficult to achieve.

The purpose of this Special Issue is to bring together the latest scientific findings and good practices in the field of sustainable soil management. These results and good practices provide a better understanding of soil-dependent land use systems and thus fit well into the profile of the journal.

We intend to compile a collection of new scientific results in goal-oriented mapping of soils according to sustainability criteria, especially if they also have adaptive significance. In addition, we look forward to studies that show examples of innovative solutions based on scientific results and that can be integrated into sustainable land management practices. There is a growing need for decision support systems for soil management worldwide. An important task of these systems is to assess and indicate the impact of sustainability policy measures.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Land is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
