Optical Properties and Applications of Metallic/Metal-Oxide Nanostructures

Dear Colleagues,

It is well known that the physical behaviors of bulk materials change substantially as size shrinks down to the nano scale. Metallic and metal–oxide nanostructures are continuously investigated due to their wonderful optical properties and applications. For example, metallic nanoparticles could contribute to plasmonic interaction, and they are broadly introduced in solar cells, photodetectors, photocatalysts, and so on. On the other hand, metal oxides have semiconducting properties, and nanostructures of metal oxide are among the most used nanostructures. Applications of metal oxide nanostructures are therefore leading to a wide variety of research. In this Special Issue, recent impressive studies on optical properties and applications based on metallic nanostructures or metal–oxide nanostructures are collected and discussed.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
