Fuzzy Sets, Systems and Decision Making

A section of Mathematics (ISSN 2227-7390).

Section Information

The Fuzzy Sets, Systems and Decision Making section of Mathematics aims at disseminating and communicating fuzzy-driven scientific knowledge and impactful discoveries to academia, industry, and the public worldwide. The concept of a fuzzy set, on which fuzzy logic (FL) has been built, has been proven to play an important role in (1) modeling and representing imprecise and uncertain linguistic human concepts; (2) mimicking human thinking and decision making; and (3) researchers and practitioners developing tools to model behaviors in forms that are easy to understand and implement in computer systems.

In practice, high performance and the quality of results are only achievable if the research community concentrates on filling the gaps in theoretical knowledge, and practitioners put the latest developments to use in their applications to address practical problems. Thus, this Section aims at attracting the latest results from researchers working on theoretical advances in fuzzy sets, systems and decision making and corresponding impactful industry applications. These results can stem from the generation of new theoretical knowledge on the discipline itself, or via the informed design of customized fuzzy/hybrid-based solutions to solve high-impact (e.g., humanitarian, environmental or economical) interdisciplinary applications.
