Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Increased exposure to environmental pollutants is a consequence of our modern society. This exposure can come in many forms, from inhaling/ingesting contaminated dust, eating contaminated foods, or through new recreational habits such as smoking/vaping. Pregnant women and their developing offspring are at enhanced risk for adverse health outcomes due to these factors. The aim of this Special Issue is to highlight how pollutants may affect maternal and child health and to identify novel environmental hazards, the mechanisms by which they operate, and their long-term impact on women and their developing infant. This will play a vital role in minimizing the risk of pregnancy complications or developmental disorders that can lead to a lifetime of illness and disability.
