Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues;

In the 21st century; glaucoma is still one of the most common causes of irreversible vision loss worldwide. Progress has been made in every step; from diagnosis to therapy; but the management can still be complex. New diagnostic tools and structure-function correlations allow early diagnosis and early detection of progression; while new therapeutic options such as novel laser therapies and MIGS are trying to fill the gap between eye drops and surgical strategies. Moreover; the understanding of the pathogenesis is becoming deeper and deeper with new molecular models trying to explain how the disease develops. Thanks to all these variables; the quality of management is increasing; but it is still impossible to provide a repeatable algorithm to properly treat every patient.

The aim of this special issue will focus on innovative approaches for glaucoma management in the 21st century; from early diagnosis to treatment; passing through scrupulous follow up.
