Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) are short-lived stroke warning symptoms that identify people at particularly high risk of a disabling stroke or other serious vascular events. The management of transient ischemic attack (TIA) has gained significant attention in the last decade after relevant studies that indicated how early management improves the natural evolution of these patients. At present, some issues related to TIA remain with great clinical interest, such as: sex differences in the clinical presentation and outcomes after TIA, long-term risk of stroke recurrence and risk of major vascular events, usefulness of clinical scales to different mimic events from TIA events, and the preconditioning effect of recent previous TIA events.

We welcome research that gives evidence about short- and long-term outcomes after TIA, improving the management and diagnosis process of TIA.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Original research papers and reports on mechanisms of TIA;
  • Trial human study protocols of TIA;
  • Results of registries in TIA patients;
  • Review articles in the field of TIA;
  • Results of intensive management in TIA patients.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Medicina is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
