Analytical Chemistry

A section of Molecules (ISSN 1420-3049).

Section Information

The ‘Analytical Chemistry’ section of Molecules publishes original research articles, communications, and reviews on all aspects of analytical chemistry. This section welcomes a wide array of research including fundamental investigations on the identification and quantitation of chemical entities (small to large molecules and complexes), as well as improvements on analytical methodologies that have an impact on our society and environment. This section will report significant improvements in detection limits, reproducibility, accuracy, and precision for analytes of interest using modern analytical techniques and instrumentations. Articles may also only be directed to any part of the analytical chemistry work-flow, such as sampling, sample preparation, detection, and data analysis. This section invites manuscripts from researchers that report on the following areas related to analytical chemistry:

  • Sampling strategies including device development for obtaining representative sample materials, e.g., from the environment, manufacturing facilities, and others.
  • Sample preparation including innovative liquid-phase and solid-phase extraction. Microscale techniques, use of nanoparticles, and development of innovative extraction materials.
  • Derivatization techniques to improve sample preparation, analysis, and detection.
  • Instrumentation, e.g., portable analytical systems
  • Separations including liquid and gas phase chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, gel electrophoresis, and so on. Materials for separation science. Hyphenated separation techniques and two-dimensional separations.
  • Bioanalysis
  • Chemical analysis using microfluidics
  • Chemometrics and data analysis
  • Environmental analysis
  • Electrochemistry
  • Food, spices, and beverage analytical methods
  • Greening of analytical chemistry
  • Lipidomics
  • Metabolomics
  • Metallomics
  • Mass spectrometry
  • Nuclear magnetic resonance
  • Phytochemical analysis
  • Proteomics
