Dear Colleagues,
MRI contrast agents are not only used to improve the visibility of internal structures in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) but also to visualize and quantify physiological processes, function, metabolism and cell interactions. Over recent decades, the development of new contrast agents for in vivo MRI has made use of an increasing number contrast mechanisms, extending to non-proton nuclei MRI, hyperpolarization, CEST and many others. The use of contrast agents that target specific receptors and transporters to visualize particular cell types has opened new perspectives for molecular and cell imaging.
The proposed Special Issue, titled “Next Generation MRI Contrast Agents”, will present a collection of papers that cover a wide range of current and future research topics that focus on the development and application of novel MRI contrast agents.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
