Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to announce this new Special Issue which is built on collaboration between the MDPI Nanomaterials journal and the 2021 International Conference on Biomaterials and Applications Engineering (ICBAE 2021) that will be held in Tokyo, Japan on 15–17 December 2021. The objective of ICBAE 2021 is to provide a forum for presenting and discussing the latest research results by scientists active in biomaterials and their applications.

The progressively tighter integration between the subjects of biomedical engineering and materials science during the past decade has resulted in significant research breakthroughs that have generated considerable interest in the conversion and translation of these advances into technologies mature enough for clinical application. This translation represents a significant challenge that demands the development and use of procedures to ensure the safety, effectiveness, and accessibility of new diagnostic procedures and therapies based on biomaterials discoveries. The use of cutting-edge tools for functional characterization and ‘live’ microscopy lie at the core of these activities.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to highlight recent developments and to identify emerging and future areas of growth in this exciting field:

  • Nanomaterials
  • Electronic materials
  • Material chemistry
  • Materials processing engineering
  • Structural materials

Presented papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference. In addition, a Nanomaterials Special Issue dedicated to the conference will be open to the submission of selected outstanding contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
