Professor Suresh Alahari Named 2020 AAAS Fellow

On behalf of the editors of Non-Coding RNA, we would like to extend our congratulations to the editorial board member Prof. Suresh K. Alahari, who was introduced as a 2020 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) at the virtual Fellows Forum in February 2021. Suresh Alahari was nominated by the AAAS in recognition of his "distinguished contributions in cancer research and teaching, with a focus on signal transduction."

AAAS Fellows are elected each year by their peers serving on the Council of AAAS. The title recognizes important contributions to STEM disciplines, including pioneering research, leadership within a given field, teaching and mentoring, fostering collaborations, and advancing public understanding of science.

Prof. Alahari is the Fred Brazda Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans and its Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center. His research interests are in cell adhesion, Nischarin, tumor cell migration, invasion, microRNA, lncRNA. The laboratory overseen by Prof. Alahari investigates the mechanism of action of Nischarin in tumor cell migration and invasion.
