10–12 November 2021 14th European Public Health Conference 2021—Public Health Futures in a Changing World

European public health has not had a good COVID. Across Europe, the public health response to a pandemic has been largely unsuccessful. This is despite an enormous amount of very hard work in public health units all across the EU. This reflects a weakness within the profession, which has been manifested in the curious phenomenon of dual strands of public health advice, official and unofficial, in several EU countries. Politicians were placed in an impossible position by this. This needs to be openly and constructively faced. By and large, public health has had a limited impact on the design and implementation of a core public health policy.

So. The world of public health changes, but many key pieces remain the same. A key part is to hold to that which we value, and to build on that, and extend out from that, to meet new and pressing needs. A focus on where we are, and where we want to go might be helpful for clarification. The relevant word is ‘futures’, and not ‘future’. We expect an even more diverse public health, with the public health workforce delivering in new and more traditional arenas.

The EPH Conference is where over 2,000 public health professionals convene, learn, network, and engage with colleagues to strengthen the profession of public health, share the latest research and information, promote best practices and advocate for public health issues and policies grounded in research. The EPH Conference is an initiative of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA), an independent scientific organization engaged to build capacity and knowledge in the field of public health.

Register and be part of the EPH 2021 Conference!

2–3 December 2021 2021 Nutrition Society of New Zealand Annual Scientific Conference—Tūhono - Reconnecting

Wellington, New Zealand

The Nutrition Society of New Zealand conference is the only scientific nutrition-specific conference held in New Zealand annually. The aim of the conference is to provide a national forum where local and international nutrition and health scientists, practitioners, and postgraduate students can present their research to inform and upskill those working in the field, and network to develop new collaborations.

The theme for this year’s conference: “Tūhono - Reconnecting” means “to meet or come into contact again after a long absence” and is appropriate as we had to cancel last year’s conference due to Covid-19. We look forward to finally bring people together.

The 2021 conference will cover a range of contemporary topics specifically relevant to the health of New Zealanders including Te Tiriti o Waitangi, women’s health, the gut-brain axis, functional foods, sustainability and food sovereignty, food systems and access, and healthy food environments for children.

The conference programme will consist of 6 plenary sessions, each led by keynote or plenary speakers and supported by submitted abstracts. There will also be a number of parallel sessions featuring oral presentations of submitted abstracts, and professional development workshops aimed at postgraduate students, early career researchers and NZ Registered Nutritionists working in Private Practice. We are expecting well around 150 attendees.

21–24 June 2022 3rd International Conference on Food Bioactives & Health

Parma, Italy

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 3rd International Conference on Food Bioactives & Health, that will be held on June 21-24, 2022 in the amazing city of Parma, Italy. This third conference in the series comes after the great success of the previous meetings, held in Norwich in 2016 and in Lisbon in 2018. Both events were very well organized and were a great success. We are, therefore, committed to match these standards and are preparing what we are sure will be a unique event. The topics addressed by FBHC2020 have been broadened to cover a wide range of topics on food bioactives and health, including (poly)phenols, carotenoids, glucosinolates & other organosulfur compounds, fatty acids & sterols, polysaccharides, and peptides & protein. In addition, a session will be devoted to toxic compounds, an often overlooked topic that is important from a holistic perspective in the role of food bioactives and their impact on human health. Particular attention will be paid on transversal topics such as personalised nutrition, gut microbiota, dietary intake, and nutritional policy. The Conference aims to offer plenty of networking opportunities, providing the chance to interact with renowned scientists and to stimulate creative exchange among researchers. Young scientists will have a lot of opportunities to showcase their work and obtain feedback from experienced international scientist. June is a perfect time to visit Parma, a lively and cultural city, located in Northern Italy, that is surrounded by parks, vineyards, lakes and medieval castles. Most importantly, Parma is a “food city”. It has been recognised as UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy and hosts the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) headquarters. The congress year, 2020, will be a great time to visit Parma as it will be the Italian Capital of Culture and full of numerous special attractions. In addition, we are planning a “family friendly conference”, with organized activities for the children of delegates during the sessions, including "learning through playing” games focusing on healthy nutrition and lifestyle. We hope you will participate in what will be a memorable conference in the beautiful city of Parma!

With best wishes,

The Organizing Committee.
