2009 Nutrients inaugural issue is released, it is initially published as a quarterly journal.
2010 Nutrients changes to a monthly publication schedule, the journal is indexed by Scopus.
2011 Nutrients is indexed by Web of Knowledge (ISI), Medline and Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE).
2012 The first Impact Factor is 0.676.
2013 The second Impact Factor is 2.072.
2014 The 2013 Impact Factor is 3.148.
2015 The 2014 Impact Factor is 3.270. The first 1000 papers are published. Two new societies, Nutrition Society of New Zealand (NSNZ) and Australasian Section—American Oil Chemists Society (AAOCS), become affiliated with Nutrients.
2016 The 2015 Impact Factor is 3.759. The first 2000 papers are published. A new society, Asia Pacific Nutrigenomics Nutrigenetics Organisation (APNNO), becomes affiliated with Nutrients.
2017 The 2016 Impact Factor is 3.550. The first 3000 papers are published. A new society, Italian Society for Pediatric Nutrition and Gastroenterology (SIGENP), becomes affiliated with Nutrients.
2018 The 2017 Impact Factor increases to 4.196, Nutrients is ranked 18/81 (Q1) in the Category ‘Nutrition & Dietetics’ in SCIE. Prof. Dr. Lluís Serra-Majem and Prof. Dr. Maria Luz Fernandez accepted the role of Editor-in-Chief of Nutrients. The first 5000 papers are published. Two new societies, The Nutrition Society of Australia (NSA) and International Chair for Advanced Studies on Hydration (CIEAH), become affiliated with Nutrients.
2019 The 2018 Impact Factor is 4.171. Nutrients is ranked 16/86 (Q1) in the Category ‘Nutrition & Dietetics’ in SCIE. Nutrients held the first international conference Nutrients 2019 - Nutritional Advances in the Prevention and Management of Chronic Disease, in Barcelona, Spain, September 25‒27, 2019. The subject areas were refined to 13 sections. Two new societies, European Sport Nutrition Society (ESNS) and Spanish Society of Community Nutrition (SENC), become affiliated with Nutrients.
2020 The 2019 Impact Factor is 4.546. Nutrients is ranked 17/89 (Q1) in the Category ‘Nutrition & Dietetics’ in SCIE. The first 10000 papers are published. Nutrients holds the first electronic international conference - Nutritional and Microbiota Effects on Chronic Disease, November 2‒15, 2020. A new society, Spanish Nutrition Society (SEN), becomes affiliated with Nutrients.
2021 The 2020 Impact Factor is 5.717. Nutrients is ranked 17/89 (Q1) in the Category ‘Nutrition & Dietetics’ in SCIE. Two new societies, Spanish Nutrition Foundation (FEN) and Ocular Wellness & Nutrition Society (OWNS), become affiliated with Nutrients.
