Proper nutrition is pivotal to ensure a successful outcome of pregnancy through an appropriate increase in body weight to meet maternal energy requirements and provide the fetus with the nutrients it needs to develop properly. In pregnancy complicated by diabetes and/or obesity, in addition to the general principles of a healthy diet, diets should aim to obtain an optimal weight increase and to limit blood glucose values so as to reduce maternal and fetal complication related to these diseases. The objective of this proposed Special Issue on “Dietary Intake in Pregnancy Complicated by Metabolic Diseases” is to publish papers detailing specific aspects of nutrition that could help healthcare professionals in prescribing suitable eating patterns both in normal pregnancies and in pregnancies complicated by metabolic disease such as diabetes and obesity.
