Dear Colleagues,
During the 20th century, industrialization intensified in a growing number of countries around the world, and in various sectors of activity, particularly those of the chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and petroleum industries. This intense industrialization has resulted in the emergence of refractory organic compounds (ROCs) such as dyes, aromatics, pesticides (e.g., lindane, tributylphosphate), solvents, EDCs (endocrine-disrupting chemicals), and PPCPs (pharmaceuticals and personal care products such as ibuprofen and diclofenac), causing disturbances to aquatic life and risks to human health. These contaminants mostly escape conventional wastewater treatments. To limit the dispersion of these organic contaminants in the environment, wastewater must be subjected to more advanced (and yet to be developed) pollution abatement treatments.
In this Special Issue entitled “New Processes for Polluted Water Treatment”, we welcome all kinds of papers (research papers, reviews, or communications) dealing with innovative processes for water depollution. Papers can concern (photo)catalytic processes, adsorption, biological processes, or (electro)chemical processes.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
