Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Understanding the role of nutrition in supporting adaptations to exercise training is essential to optimizing responses and performance. Significant work has been done regarding nutrition and supplementation in resistance training, though studies in endurance athletes are less common. Moreover, sports nutrition continues to evolve to include a larger spectrum of areas for consideration (e.g., high-fat diets, microbiota, branch chain and essential amino acids, protein source and quantity recommendations, supplements, etc.). Accordingly, this Special Issue welcomes submissions that will add to the literature with respect to nutrition and its role in supporting endurance training adaptations, including, but not limited to, performance, immunity, gut health, and/or skeletal muscle adaptations (e.g., mitochondrial adaptations).
