Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is possible that we are facing one of the biggest disasters of the last century with the pandemic caused by Covid-19, not only at the health level, but also at the social, economic and financial markets level.

After the latest statements by the IMF, the OECD, the European Central Bank and other supranational organizations on the growth of world economies, it is the public administrations that are the main responsible for the reconstruction of the possible devastating effects that can be seen from the economic crisis of the coronavirus.

Therefore, the purpose of this Special Issue is to analyze the impact of Covid-19 on sustainable development and on the financial analysis of public administrations. Consequently, the purpose is to have new theoretical and practical initiatives that mitigate the effects derived from the pandemic and that provide new useful knowledge for financial analysts, regulatory bodies, national and international tax authorities, managers and politicians concerned about financial discipline, voters, users of public services, citizens in general and other stakeholders.

On the other hand, the responsibility of public managers has been a key factor in the development of the effects derived from the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as aspects related to public information that must be offered to citizens, such as the information on public contracts (even more so in contracts for the acquisition of personal protection equipment and sanitary material) and financial and economic information, which is so important in times of crisis, and which are mandatory requirements of the Transparency Law. Furthermore, it is equally important to know the evolution in the area of auditing of accounting, economic and financial information after the events that have occurred in recent months. In this sense, the second purpose of this Special Issue is to learn about the impact of Covid-19 on the sustainable development of the Public Transparency and Audit areas, as well as other factors related to the accountability of public managers during these times of crisis sanitary.
