Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue will consist of articles focusing on sustainability, broadly defined, as it relates to food choices, dietary quality, and health outcomes. Topics of interest include the intersection of dietary quality and production practices by food categories, the determinants of food choices as they align with dietary recommendations, the food manufacturing practices relevant to emerging trends in consumer food choices, the estimation of the impact of food choices and dietary quality on health outcomes across all time frames, and the relationships between the food environment and health outcomes. The issue will also consider papers that address the implications of dietary trends and consumer spending behavior on the financial sustainability of firms in the food supply chain, including producers, manufacturers, and retailers. Consumers have multiple sources to choose from when seeking dietary advice and guidance, and research papers comparing the sustainability of various recommendations will be considered. Papers selected for this issue may also address methodological developments in assessing the environmental impacts and sustainability of dietary choices and patterns, food production and manufacturing practices, and related topics. Also of interest is the economic modeling of bodyweight, adverse health outcomes, and morbidity as functions of food choices and dietary quality.
