Topical Collection Information

Dear Colleagues,

The journal Sustainability is devoting a Special Issue to the analysis of energy sustainability in the real estate sector. This Special Issue will include research studies considering the sub-market of real estate (offices, warehouses, housing, industrial buildings) and any related activity (finance, development, planning) from different perspectives (preferences, fuel poverty, green premium), with economic aspects of energy efficiency as the common denominator. The aim is to summarize the existing knowledge about the impact of energy transformation towards zero-buildings policies and analyze the economic perspective of the migration towards the green real estate concept. Several relevant issues can be discussed. For instance, energy poverty and the effect of decarbonization policies, investment implications and how firms plan to address the goal of reducing emissions, planning aspects of low-carbon building in a city (or smart city), regulatory aspects and policy issues, the impact of energy-efficient materials for construction, without forgetting the macro-economy effects of this transitory process. We invite researchers working on any of these topics to consider presenting their research studies in this Special Issue.
