Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Energy poverty is one of the main social problems of the 21st century, and is due to the existence of a building stock with poor energy performance and low-income households. Although there is increasing awareness of this problem and measures are established, the Covid-19 pandemic has meant a change for society. Confinement, the increase in unemployment rates, and the disappearance of companies are aggravating the economic situation of families. Given this circumstance, it is necessary to establish measures to ensure a sustainable economic recovery of families and ensure an improvement in the energy performance of buildings. The objective of this Special Issue is to analyze the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on energy poverty in families. Likewise, it is also the objective of the Special Issue to analyze measures to mitigate energy poverty in the face of this new situation. Finally, we will also consider studies that analyze the effect of energy-poverty-mitigating measures (e.g., improving the energy performance of existing buildings) from different perspectives, such as environment or health.
