Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I believe that your study is of current interest and that it was well developed.
My main observations concern the following:
I believe that, in order for the reader to understand your work better and more easily, it is important that you improve the writing and use of English in your whole work. I also suggest that you add more figures in the results section (or in supplementary material).
In the discussion section, I suggest that you enrich it with more citations of works by other authors and that you refer to tables and figures of your own results, where appropriate.
In the manuscript (atached) I made some additional specific annotations that I think can help you improve the clarity of your interesting report.

Reviewer 2 Report

The presented manuscript addresses the scenario of distribution of two Liriodendron species under climatic changes and elucidates the influence of climatic variables on shaping the geographical range of the species. In my opinion, the study could be interesting in the discussion of climatic change and its impact on shifting species ranges. The manuscript is well structured and appropriate methods were used. However, in some places is too wordy and hard to follow. I will recommend using more generalized geographical regions, especially in places where the species nowadays is not naturally dispersed (like in Europe or South America). I will also recommend to make the changes according to organizing and merging table 1 and tableS1. Table 1 in the current form is unreadable. I would like to propose the order of columns:  Variable ; climate features ; L. chinensis ; L. tulipifera. Other changes in the tables: round to thousandths of a decimal place. Please, use better quality of the figures 2 & 3.

Other minor changes:

l.39. The geographical

l.66 – Liriodendron chinense (Hemsl.) Sarg., L. tulipifera L.

l.78 ……then decline with the growth of the year  - not clear

l.156 -  of ..climatic factors was performed (was taken)

  1. 169 – generation? Not clear; reproduction?

Tab. 1. - …..MaxEnt

l.203 – not clear

l.237-240 – shorten

l.495 – insect-pollinated (also in other places)
