Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors mentioned that ‘The explanation of the results of the paper is revised, and the research process and results of the paper are carefully described’. However, It can be seen that the revised version does not reflect any improvement in the results analysis section. The results and performance analysis were discussed in 2 pages only which is to me honestly is very limited to justify the proposed work.

In the introduction part, the authors even mentioned ‘based on the analysis of the principle of the existing sliding window detection algorithm, this paper will improve the existing sliding window detection algorithm, and get a more suitable algorithm for moving vehicle recognition’. However, no analysis have been presented to show the improvement of the proposed method as compared to previous methods.

In depth analysis is required to justify the proposed work. In addition, the proposed work was not compared or benchmarked with any previous methods.

In my opinion, the paper needs major correction and need to include in depth analysis on the work done in order to improve the quality of the paper, especially the results and discussion section.

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors have improved the manuscript a lot. However, there are still some modifications needed:

  1. The grammar should be checked carefully again. To name a few, the following:
  • “In the first section,…” instead of “The first section,…”
  • In Section 4.3, lowercase for “hierarchical Sliding window detection”
  • In consistent symbol of sum1 in Eq. (1) and content.
  1. The title of Section 2.2 is not good. Please change to “Sub-window calculation for…” Also for the title of Section 3.4.

This manuscript is a resubmission of an earlier submission. The following is a list of the peer review reports and author responses from that submission.

Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The present paper proposes a hierarchical vehicle detection algorithm based on several layers to improve OpenCV sliding window method.

The proposed hierachical algorithm appears to be doing the min-max suppression that is often used with sliding window algorithm for object detection, I don't think that this work is really new.

The results are not really convincing, it appears that the a similar scene has been used for testing and comparing the algorithm.

Please proofread the paper, the English language is very understandable in some places and there are incomplete sentences e.g. lines 107, 1118, 213, 251-254 etc.

Reviewer 2 Report

The structure of the paper needs major correction for example  title section 3 and 4 are missing.

Several grammatical and language errors exist (particularly, awkward choice of words/ phrases).

Section 4: Results and discussion is too brief. Very poor explanation and justification on the results obtained from this work. The work was not benchmarked with any previous works to justify the contribution of the work.
